Dear America,
I am writing to congratulate you on the historic midterm election that occurred this November. For the first time in decades, red states like Texas, Kansas, and South Carolina have been flipped blue.
The last time Texas had a Democratic Senator was in 1988, nearly 40 years ago. The last time Kansas had a Democratic governor was all the way back in 1932, almost a century ago. South Carolina hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1998, 28 years ago.
Beyond this historic moment, we on the left can celebrate our majority in the U.S. Senate, with 54 seats out of 100. According to results from NPR, Democrats are also in the majority of the House with 232 seats out of 435 total, leaving the GOP with 146.
This is great news, and we should all be celebrating what happened on Nov. 3rd; however, we shouldn’t let this victory blind us to the bigger picture: The 2028 Presidential Election. The Democrats may be trending now, but we have two long years of legislative work to do prior to the big election in Nov. 2028. Democrats cannot afford to drop the ball within the next two years.
Democrats across the board should be listening to the everyday struggles of Americans and try to offer them some relief from Trump’s disastrous economy caused by his phony war in Iran to distract from the Epstein Files. They need to show they care about the people who voted them into power. The next two years should not be about seeking revenge on Trump and his administration; they should be focused on pushing legislation and fighting the GOP’s attempt to cause more damage to our country’s social services and systems of government.
Additionally, the DNC should be very choosy about who they decide to support past the presidential primaries; the people have spoken, they DO NOT WANT KAMALA HARRIS!
So, America, raise a glass to history in the making and buckle up because things are only going to get weirder from here. Take the break you need, get recharged, but be ready to fight for our democracy again. This battle may have ended with us as the victors, but it’s just a small part of a larger conflict. The fight for freedom, liberty, and justice for all.
